"Calligraphy is an art form that uses ink and a brush to express the very souls of words on paper.
This 5-week class meeting on Wednesday evenings will take a deep look at calligraphy and the many ways it can be applied. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with new surfaces, mediums, and techniques to give them a better understanding of calligraphy and how they can apply these skills in their everyday life. Students will leave each class with a completed project piece and every student will receive a materials kit and guide sheets to continue their practice outside of the classroom.
Meet the Instructor
Mariah Fleming is a Boston-based calligrapher with a background in Psychology and Education. She started her calligraphy studio Mariah Jillian Calligraphy out of her true love for beautiful handwriting where she provides modern hand drawn calligraphy, brush lettering, watercolor, and design for everything from weddings and keepsakes, to commercial and custom work, and even custom art pieces for live events. Mariah is familiar with the qualms of being a beginner, as she spends much of her time embarking on new creative endeavors. She hopes to help her students quiet the negative inner critic and allow them to escape the moments of comparison and self doubt by embracing their inner artist and creative mind.
