This crash course introduction to Photoshop has been designed to give students a basic understanding of the software through the guided creation of a mock magazine cover. Students will be introduced to opening and navigating the program, layers, cleaning up images, adjusting exposure, color correction, importing and dropping multiple images into a file, photo retouching, the type tool, and exporting for print/web usage, with many other features in between.

This 5-week class meeting on Wednesday evenings will take a deep look at calligraphy and the many ways it can be applied. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with new surfaces, mediums, and techniques to give them a better understanding of calligraphy and how they can apply these skills in their everyday life. Students will leave each class with a completed project piece and every student will receive a materials kit and guide sheets to continue their practice outside of the classroom.

"Let Me Count the Ways". An Introduction to the Love Poem. (4 weeks on Thursday evenings, $195)

This 4-week class meeting on Thursday evenings will explore poetry through a lense of love; romantic or otherwise. In addition to covering classic and modern sonnets, poetic form, and craft elements, each class will include writing prompts as well as discussion and feedback on the work of each student. The goal is for each student to confidently end the class with a finished product to give to a loved one or keep for themself.

This class introduces students to the primary elements that comprise a strong illustration. During weeks 1-3, through a mixture of demonstration and guided exercises, students learn about working with the visual components of illustration including value, composition, color, line weight, and style. During week 4, students learn to apply these visual methods to convey a particular concept. Concepts focused on in this course will be related to using illustration to communicate a social challenge or motivate social change. During weeks 5 & 6, students will have guided class time to complete their final poster illustration. Opportunities for critique of work progress will be provided throughout the class.

The class culminates with a live showcase at a local, professional comedy club.

Learn a Language: Introduction to Mandarin Chinese (8 weeks on Monday & Wednesday evenings, $365)

This 8-week class meeting on Monday and Wednesday evenings is an introduction to Mandarin Chinese designed with the business or leisure traveler in mind. Students will learn basic introductions, how to begin a conversation, the four tones, the Pinyin Chart, counting, dates and times, travel phrases, food groups, how to order, and much more. The class will culminate with a meal at a local Chinese restaurant where students must utilize what they've learned to converse and order entirely in Mandarin.
